Congratulations to my third and fourth grade classes. Most students in each class increased their upper and middle body muscular endurance in the last month. This increase was measured by the push-up and curl-up tests. Keep up the good work! K-1 worked on their throwing, striking, kicking, catching, and exercise skills. Please, ask them about what they did in class. All grade levels did such an amazing job I am giving them tomorrow off.
Hard to believe fall is here already. This week students are working on sharpening their throwing skills on stationary and moving targets. K-1 students practice basic throwing cues, which include pointing at our target, stepping toward our target and throwing at our target. Upper grades utilize the basic cues and focus on transferring their weight while throwing and following through toward their target. Students apply these skills in an anchor game called Pumpkin Patch. Please, ask them about it.
This week students engaged in the game Battleship. This game is an anchor game that employs throwing skills, scooter skills, and teamwork. The students did a great job and worked well in their teams. Grades 3 and 4 were introduced to circuit training. The students had a great warm-up utilizing the motor skills and patterns we have been practicing since the beginning of the year.
Students in all grades enjoyed a Station Day today. 1st grade performed very well at their exercise stations and enjoyed working on their balancing, throwing, stacking and jumping patterns. 3rd and 4th grade worked hard during their push-up and curl-up assessments and also enjoyed focusing on many other skill challenges during their classes. K and 2 worked with a partner to perform a variety of motor skills and patterns during their day. It is really a pleasure getting to know these students and witness the growth that is already taking place. They did such a good job I am giving them next Monday off.
What a great job the students did today. Grades 3 & 4 really pushed themselves during the PACER. The PACER is a fun endurance run that gives students an idea of what is happening in their heart and lungs. We will take the PACER a few more times this year. Students will have the opportunity to set personal fitness goals and try to achieve them.. Grades 1&2 continued to work on mastering lcocomotor patterns and throwing at a target. Kindergarten explored the gym and shared new equipment and space with their classmates. It is truly a joy to work with these students.
It was great working with my KES students again this week. Grades 3&4 learned and practiced push-up and curl-up patterns. We discussed the importance of maintaining and enhancing our muscular endurance. Grades 1&2 focused on throwing patterns. They did a great job of following proper cues and having fun while doing it. My Kindergarten friends explored many pieces of equipment and practiced sharing space safely. What a great day!
Our first day together was awesome! I enjoyed meeting my students and they did an excellent job being safe and active. K-1 worked on sharing space safely while using different locomotor patterns and then explored different types of equipment. Grades 2 through four worked on their catching skills and played a game called Reaction. What a good start to the year!!!
