Making holiday yarn ornaments in art
Art with Ms. Kelsey at KES and BES.
Hello and welcome to another fun, exciting, and educational year in the Art room. I teach Elementary Art at KES three and a half days a week,. Monday, Tuesday, (half day Wednesday am) and Friday. The remaining time is spent teaching at BES( Wednesday pm) and Thursday. Both schools host our annual Art show in May. This is a wonderful event that transforms the school into a huge Art gallery. An ice cream social provided by the PTO is also on the same night. If you are a new parent you will notice that much of the art work created will be held for display at the Art show. Periodically projects will come home during the year.
Kindergarten has just finished their beautiful pumpkin paintings using tempera and watercolor paints.
We focused on mixing colors, shape, pattern and texture.
First grade has been working on their still life drawings of a vase with flowers. We have been looking at and discussing still life paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Ce'zanne.
Second grade has started blending their pumpkin pastel drawings. We will be mixing and creating our own colors while water painting the background.
Third grade has been starting their large turtle unit. We have been using special colored pastels to create the turtles. designs, shapes, patterns and colors.
Fourth grade will be continuing their pumpkin and gourd watercolor paintings. For the holidays they will be creating individual nutcrackers to take home.
As always both schools are looking for volunteers to help with the Art show during the year.
You do not have to be artistic. Just help with labeling and mounting projects on black paper. Anytime you can give is greatly appreciated.
Please email me at akelsey@rsd17.org with any questions or concerns.
